I’ll bet y’all never knew I played GUITAR. Kind of. I kind of play guitar. As in I teach myself and turn out making somewhat recognizable notes.
May 25, 2012I got a guitar for my 17th birthday a bunch of months ago and have been teaching myself to play since then. Actually, I played it a lot when I first got it and then I took a break and didn’t play that much. Then about a week ago I picked it up and started learning again.
I figured out how to play the hymn “Holy Holy Holy” last night. I was bored so I recorded it and now I’m putting it on my blog.
I don’t know what I was thinking.
A post in which I squeal and dance around because we are leaving for my favorite place tomorrow and I’ll get to see awesome friends I haven’t seen in ages — one for TWO YEARS
May 24, 2012Pretty much what the title said. I’m going to Milton. Yaaaaay! Trailer’s graduation is tomorrow so we’ll leave here and head straight there or whatever and then see that. The Johnsons are pretty awesome so we’re all excited to see them.
Then on Saturday my friends and I are getting together to play ultimate frisbee. It has FINALLY worked out to where we’re in town when one of my good friends, Aaron(who is in law school right now), is also in town for summer break. This time hopefully we can avoid the flu which spread through the Curdy family and destroyed the plans we had a few Christmases ago to get together. But alas, I’ll be meeting up with my bestest friends — the Curdys, Whites, and Kellys — on Saturday. I’m so stinkin’ excited! It’s been so long since the old campaignin’ team was all in one place — two years! It’ll be great to get together again.
Plus my sister will be there! YAY! I am just so excited to see her.
Not to mention that in between that I’ll get to spend tons of time with one of my bestest friends, Sarah!
We’re really crazy. No seriously, it gets pretty bad sometimes. Occasionally we just have to start smacking each other to knock sense back into one another.
Or apparently pulling someone off of a fence by their ear. As Sarah is having so much fun doing above.
So yep! Now I must go pack, for I have a busy weekend ahead of me. Until next time!
Not very many people know I have a major fascination with archery. Except Katy. And Taylor. And Skylar. And my mom.
May 23, 2012I like archery. A lot. I have for a long time, and for as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to learn how to shoot an arrow. It’s even on my bucket list.
But recently I’ve realized that I not only like archery myself, but I tend to prefer characters who wield a bow in books and movies/TV.
For instance:
I got my nickname Lia from Katy, who called me that because my favorite character, and the one I was most like, in Lisa Bergren’s River of Time series(possibly the best series of books ever written) was Lia, who was an archer.
One of my very favorite TV series’ is Robin Hood.
As you all know by now, my favorite of the Avengers(though tying with Thor) was Hawkeye.
And recently I have become a big fan of the Green Arrow, who actually will have his own show here pretty soon.
Legolas. Duh. He can like see everything and freakin’ never runs out of arrows. Though, I must say I really did like Aragorn too. But Legolas was pretty darn cool. Plus he took down that giant elephant thing. The oliphant or whatever.
Yep. Archery is awesome. It’s fascinating. And I am determined that I will become an archer someday.
What will probably happen is I finally get a bow and then I will be really bad at it and will have exactly 0 skill in that area.
And then I will cry.
And then I will find a sword and do fencing instead.
Okay I’m back with a cup of hot tea sitting on the table next to me. I really have no idea what I’m going to post about. I was just like “Hey, I need to post.” so I’m doing it, all the while sitting here going “What am I even posting about?” So here’s just a lowdown on what’s going on in these parts.
I made a cheesecake the other day. It was really yummy and I wanted to eat the whole plate of it. It was so good. Like seriously.
Anyway. Onto more interesting subjects.
I have friends graduating.
Friends getting married.
Friends going to college.
Everybody’s doing something. Crazy how fast we’ve all grown up. O.O I can’t believe it’s been more than a year since my awesome friends and I graduated highschool together.
Dad leaves for nine months in 30 days. That’s pretty crazy.
I saw this post on Answers.com the other day and just couldn’t help but make this:
And that is all I have to say because I can’t think of anything else. So on a final note:
I like superheroes.
It’s kind of a new realization for me. But for the last decade or so as superheroes have once again come into fandom, I have become increasingly aware that I get into this crazy superhero high whenever I see a new superhero movie. Unless it’s Spiderman. I never liked Spiderman. Why are they even making a new one? I was forced to see the trailer for The Lame Amazing Spiderman in the theater last night. It was pretty much just like watching it on your computer except 40 times bigger therefore 40 times more painful.
Okay it wasn’t painful. But I seriously have a desire level of approximately 0 to ever see it again. Also the actual movie.
Now that you’ve gained a firm grasp on the fact that I really don’t like Spiderman, we can move on.
Avengers!(yes there may be spoilers so don’t be stupid and read this if you haven’t seen the movie)
Yes, the hype of the entertainment world at the current moment. I could go into all the statistics and how they’ve made a quadrillion dollars or whatever but I just don’t feel like it.
What I do want to point out is that Hawkeye did not get enough spotlight. I mean come’on! He’s possibly the most awesome dude ever and what does he get? 30 seconds in Thor and then gets to spend half of the Avengers in evil mode? What?
Some may say that he doesn’t have enough character to have his own movie. These people don’t know anything. Okay, what I mean to say is that I completely disagree. They could have easily made a movie with Hawkeye and the Black Widow in it. They obviously have a past, and an interesting one at that, so seriously! Do something with the cool bow and arrow kick-butt guy! He is not GLITTER, people! You can’t just go sprinkling him into random movies.

Uh, case and point.
Second of all, I never knew how totally cool Bruce Banner is. Mark Ruffalo played an awesome Hulk. Edward Norton played in the latest Hulk movie, which I heard was pretty lame do I don’t even want to see it, but I would totally invest time in watching a Hulk movie with Ruffalo in it. He was perfect!
But one thing Dad and I noticed was that when he first went crazy he tried to attack everyone. It didn’t matter if they were on his team or not, he was killing everyone. But at the end, he knew who was on his team and who wasn’t. Wha?
My thoughts are that he purposefully became Hulk the second time so he was more in control of himself. Even then, he socked Thor. Which was absolutely hilarious.
Iron Man, err, Stark, was a jerk. As usual.
I mean seriously, he is such a meanie. Sorry, couldn’t think of any other word to put there.
He thinks he’s better than everyone else. And to those who are like “WELL he IS!” — y’all don’t know awesomeness when it’s wielding a bow and arrow on a 30ft wide screen right in front of your FACE.
Okay Iron Man is fairly cool but really, if anyone other than Robert Downey Jr. had played that part, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it.
But he did it perfectly, adding a nice touch of humor where needed.
Then there was Hawkeye– oh wait. I already talked about him.
Dang.
Next is Thor, who was just as awesome in The Avengers as he was in his own movie. Out of the Marvel movies I’ve seen, Thor was definitely the best one. I LOVED Thor. It was just such a great story. And even though he’s evil, I really liked Loki as well. Both of the brother had such deep character — I loved it! And they were just as good in The Avengers.
And Captain America! Dunduhduhduh! While I wasn’t a huge fan of the movie, I really liked Captain America in The Avengers. He was pretty much the dude with sound reason in the group. He was so cool.
And last and also least, the Black Widow, who was cool but not that cool. I mean, I think her and Hawkeye could make a good movie together. But alone, she was just assassin-y cool.
All in all, it was a pretty dang awesome movie. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait until the next one comes out, along with Thor 2(2013) and Captain America 2(2014).
Overall, superheroes are pretty cool. And just plain heroes because technically Hulk isn’t a superhero or something.
Also, anyone find it funny that Captain Marvel is a DC character? Hehe wait wha?
Yeah it’s confusing. Doesn’t really make any sense.
Also, if only Batman was Marvel. Then it would be so easy to say that Marvel is my favorite. But alas, DC has both Batman and the Green Arrow so I am stuck being able to not say that.
Oh well.
So. That’s it
My geek side is going back into hiding now.
Until next time.
There are peppermint patties in the fridge that have been there for MONTHS and Dad won’t let me have them because apparently they’re for “work”, whatever that means.
May 18, 2012So pretty much Dad brought home a ginormous box of peppermint patties sometime in the winter, which naturally sent me into a fit of excitement, and proceeded to inform me that we could NOT have them because they were for some something at work. Or something.
It was horrible.
Every time I went to get something out of the fridge in the garage I would come face to face with a giant box of heavenly goodness that was off limits. It just sat there. Teasing. Saying “Nah nah nah nah you can’t eat me.”
It’s pretty bad. For a while I was having trouble sleeping at night knowing they were down there.
So now, after all this time, they’re still in there. So I’m going to go ask Dad if I can have them since apparently “work” doesn’t need them all that bad.
I’ll let you know how that goes.
Let’s talk about me. And, no, I did not steal this from Piccola okay yes I totally stole this idea from Picco. But she had it coming because she totally stole my idea before I had come up with it or something like that. Also I’m apparently going to be marrying a charmingly misunderstood evil scientist. Yep that’s weird.
Instead of pictures of food I'm putting up random old pictures of me that I find in my mom's old blog posts. Food probably would have been a better route. Sorry people.
I drink milk. A lot of it. In fact, sometimes I get scolded for how much milk I’m drinking. Mom is always like “KAIT I just bought that gallon yesterday, why is it almost GONE?!” and then I’m all like “I was thirsty.” And then she usually throws something that me.
There will never be a time in my life where I buy a half of a gallon of milk. Even when it’s just me and my husband, I will easily go through a gallon a week.
I like milk.
I have a major dislike for ticks and leeches. I can deal with beetles, spiders(seriously, I kept a brown widow as a pet for months), bees, roaches, flies(scary, I know), etc, but put me head to head with ticks or leeches, and I feel like I’m going to puke. It’s not good. Like really. We had a leech in our back porch a few months ago and it was really grossing me out. Luckily it was disposed of. But before that…eeeyaghblah I don’t even want to think about it.
Anything under 78 degrees causes me to wear a jacket. Yep. 80 degrees and up is what I love. Also, I like getting dirty. I will totally engage in a mud fight. In fact, below is a picture of me making mud pies. Sure, that was 4 years ago but whatever. I was like 13. And I’d do it again.
I don’t do enclosed spaces. Caves. Elevators. Okay, I’ll go on an elevator but that doesn’t mean I’ll like it. I always worry about the power going out and being stuck in a black box. That would not go well for me.
I also don’t walk over grates. One of my friends makes fun of me all the time for the grate thing. Loser. He obviously doesn’t understand the danger.
Also, things that may jump out and grab me that live in sewers and under my bed.
And that’s enough things about me for one day. Here’s some food that I want to eat right now.
I asked my mom where to find a dragon egg and/or unicorn egg and she said to check eBay. So I did. And I got results.
May 9, 2012PEOPLE I HAVE DONE IT. I have located both dragon AND unicorn eggs. All this time I’ve been searching when they were a click away! Fantastic! (yes that was me saying “fantastic” like The Doctor)(No not a MD you nitwit, like…oh never mind.)
Anyway, check this out!
I am totally saving up my pennies to get one. Okay maybe. Probably. I mean, I have enough money obviously. It’s only, like $10 to get a dragon egg. But I’m also saving to get this and this and and this and this and pretty much everything on my Pinterest board here so I really need to prioritize.
They had results for unicorn eggs too.
Less than uber exciting. They’re obviously fake.
