Well I’ve kinda been thinking I should post more often…but I’m not sure what to post. Haha. We went to the airshow; and that was a LOT of fun. And…uh…we’re going to Milton this weekend…again. I was excited to hang out with my friends…then I learned that just they were all – just about every single one of them – are out of town this weekend. It’ll be fun anyhow…I’ll get to see my amazing friend, Sarah, and some of the others who won’t be out of town invited me to watch a movie with them Saturday night, so I’ll enjoy doing that!
Lets see…uh…my brothers are growing like nuts!
And getting quite handsome, I might add.
Mom’s due on February 14th; the day before I was. And she REALLY thinks it’s a girl, thought I have my doubts, and reasonably so.
Well…I think that’s it! That’s just about all that’s going on. lol
Wow! The last two weeks have been AWESOME! We went on another surprise trip to Milton this past weekend and stayed Friday through Monday. It was BUSY BUSY BUSY! Lots of stuff to do! I really missed seeing the Curdys, as they were out of town, and the Carnleys and Kellys as we were too busy, but it was fun nonetheless! I got to spend an exhuberant amount of time with my close friend, Sarah, and her wonderful family. We also got to see the Graham Crackers and Whites. It was SO good to see them again! We spent the first half of Saturday hanging out with them. We had a good time!
After hanging out with the Whites and Graham Crackers we went to Fort Pickens with Sarah’s family, who we were staying with, and some friends from church. I had never been before and anticipated the visit. It was AMAZING! Gorgeous!
Mrs. H, Sarah’s mom who is a fellow photographer, and I were comparing photos, taking notes, and enjoying the awesome photography chances as we strolled through the many tunnels and such with the group. Sarah and I trecked where no one else would, such as into this pitch black and seemingly endless tunnel.
Thank goodness for my camera flash that made it possible to get this picture admist the blackness!
It was really cool! Not only were there neat tunnels and scenery to take pictures of, but also pretty flowers!
And, of course, cute kids!

Mrs. H took this one.
It was SO much fun!!!! That night Sarah and I stayed the night at Victoria’s and had a blast. The next morning we were picked up and taken to church with our families(though this could be singular as we are practically one big family now ). We stayed at church talking to our friends until around 2:30 or 3:00. After that we went home and prepared for the Graham Crackers to come over. After they arrived, we went to the park and played around for a while and then we went home to have some yummy barbequed chicken and macaroni. YUMMY! We stayed up late and enjoyed the Graham Cracker’s company.
Getting to bed late, Sarah and I anticipated sleeping in a bit the next morning, but our wishes were discarded when the next morning we were awoken at 7am to someone wanting water. Unable to fall back asleep, Sarah and I got out of bed and joined the few people who were up in the dining room. Us two teens gulped down a cup of coffee and struggled to wake up all the way. We went through 3 pots of coffee that morning, as all of the adults were tired from the night before also.
Eventually, once breakfast was getting made, we finally woke up completely and set to helping Mrs. H make breakfast. It was CRAZY! 3 of the Graham Cracker kids had stayed the night, so we had 15 kids all together. That’s a lot of hungry kids.
Needless to say, after a lot of hecticness, we got pancakes and bacon made for the entire group.
We ate some crickets, which you can hear the story behind and watch the video here, and then Sarah, Gabe, and I went with the Dads to Walmart. That was a fun trip. Dad wore a wig that made him look like he came right out of the 70s. It was epic.
We got home, hit the volleyball around for a while, and then it was time for us to leave for the Smiths. We said our farewells to Sarah’s family and thanked them for their hospitiality, telling them we’d be back in just 3 weeks.
We went to the Smiths and hung out for a while, enjoying Mr. Smiths delectable fried chicken, fish, and french fries.
We enjoyed fellowship and at around 5:30 we pulled out.
It was a TON of fun! I can’t wait to return in 2 weeks!
Last weekend we went to visit Milton after 2 months of being away. To say that the reunion was exciting would be an understatement. It was fantastic.
We arrived Friday night and stayed with our pastor’s family, so I was able to hang out with my amazing friend, Sarah, that night and all the next morning. At 1pm on Saturday I went to Lizzy’s and hung out with her and Anna for about an hour before heading out with them to their brother and my very good friend, Josh’s, football game. It was really good to see the Carnleys again and I enjoyed watching Josh and Jake play football, thought they did lose.
After that, I was finally able to talk to Mrs. Carnley and Josh on our ride over to the Curdy’s house where we planned to play volleyball and hang out before we watched the Gator vs. Bama game. We decided the teams, with Katy, Lizzy, and John on one team and Josh, Danny, and me on the other. It was a blast! I never realized how much I missed playing volleyball with my friends!!! I had so much fun! We played, laughed, and made fun of eachother as we passed the ball back and forth over the net. After an hour and a half or so, Lizzy and Josh had to leave to go watch the game with another friend, so after a few quick pictures and hugs, we said our farewells and they left. The rest of us, now John, Danny, Katy, Jessica, and me, returned to the house and enjoyed cookies and Brownies as we watched the Gator game and played cards. As the clock struck 9, my dad showed up and talked to Mr. Curdy while I gathered my bag and box of books that Katy and I had traded and said farewell. It was so had to say goodbye again but I immensely enjoyed the times I had with my friends. I got in the car and waved my final farewell as we began to back out of the driveway. After getting settled, I turned to Sarah who sat in the seat next to me and smiled as we began to converse once again. When we stopped at Winn-Dixie we made jokes and laughed as we walked through the store with our dads right ahead of us. By the time we got home it was past 10 so we talked with the adults for a few minutes then retired to bed, both us us exhausted from the days activities, as Sarah was also busy doing something for her school that afternoon. The next day we went to church and hung out for a while after the fellowship meal to talk to our friends. Afterwards we packed up and said goodbye to our pastor’s family and pulled out.
*content sigh* oh my…I had so much fun!!! I can not wait to visit again at the end of the month. The only way it could have possibly been better is if 1) if we had stayed indefinitely and 2) if my wonderful friends, the Whites, were there. But all in all, it was a wonderful trip and it felt good to be home.
Whenever I see something that I really like, I say “oh I HEART that!!” because I don’t like using the word “love” for a possession since the Bible clearly tells us what the word “love” means. Now, of course I don’t always use “I heart”, nor do I find it wrong to use “I love”, it’s just something my mom and I do, and we actually find it kinda fun! So I was thinking, I should make a list of my “I Hearts”. Now keep in mind that “I Heart” and “I Like” are two totally different things! If I were to do an “I Like” list it would be endless. “I Heart” is specifically for a severe enjoyment of a possesion or hobby. And this doesn’t count stuff like God, family, and friends.
So I here by present my “I Hearts”.
I heart historical fiction.
I heart sweet tea.
I heart photography.
I heart electricity.
I heart dogs.
I heart training dogs.
I heart volleyball.
I heart blogging.
I heart doritos.
I heart little stars.
I heart the farm life.
I heart cute kids.
I heart Photoshop
I heart campaigning(local politics)
I heart books.
I heart ultimate frisbee.
I heart writing.
I heart Milton, FL.
I heart yellow smiley faces.
I heart M’nMs.
I heart history.
I heart candy corn.
I heart working in the garage with dad.
I heart cooking with mom.
I heart playing football with my brothers.
I heart life.
I got my permit this morning, thinking that I would not be able to start learning to drive until we got a smaller vehicle than our 12 passenger van. Well I was wrong. Dad stopped right after we pulled into our neighborhood and handed me the keys.
Apparently God has gifted me with a calmness while driving, and I just drove. Never have I driven before. Dad sat next to me and gave me pointers, telling me to move a little to the left here, or take the turn a little closer to the curb there. We went home, sat around for a little while, and Dad asked if I wanted to go back out again.
Duh.
I learned how to back out of the driveway this time…and that was interesting. Mumbo jumbo van should have a beeper go off whenever it’s being backed up, but it didn’t matter that is was huge. After about 3 minutes I finally made it safely out of the driveway.
We went around the neighborhood twice, recieving pointers and getting really comfortable. Dad asked if I wanted to go on the main road now, and I don’t think he expected me to reply what I di – “yeah!”
So today, the first day of having a permit, I managed to drive up to 40mph on the main road, go through a construction zone, and be passed in a non passing zone by a speeding guy.
I’ve learned that I absolutely love to be behind the wheel, but there is so much to keep an eye on! You gotta watch the road, check you gages, and look in your sideview mirrors nonceasingly. I am so glad I am learning already; I’m really enjoying it.
Somehow, some way, my friends managed to make it onto the top 3 new stories video at a rally for Rick Scott who’s running for governer in Florida. I was upset that I was unable to be there, especially since it was the one time they made it on TV, but I’m so glad that my friends had a lot of fun and enjoyed the time…and made it on the news. And it’s not even like it was just the corner of one of their shoes; they were shown several times holding signs and talking to eachother. Way to go Katy, Danny, Spencer, John, Jacob, Toria, Bethany, Stina, and Mrs White, and Mrs. Smith!
Well, nothing much has happened, besides my amazing trip to South Carolina. I had a blast hanging out with my extended family. It was quite different being surrounded by little girls rather than boys. Instead of asking if I’d like to play a video game with them, I was asked if I’d like to color, read, or go on a walk. It was like a totally different world!(though I’ve had minor experiences like that when I helped the McCurdys for a few days a couple months ago)
My friend and I recently started a joint blog for posting reviews and hosting giveaways. If you’d like to check it out, you can find it here.
Other than that, I’ve mostly been doing stuff around the house, besides cleaning my room as you can easily tell if you open the door, doing school, blogging, and reading as much as I can.
I have also been writing my books. Can’t say I’ve gotten too far with only 6 chapters of one and still working on the first chapter of the other, but hey: you gotta start somewhere right?
Other than that I haven’t been much. I’ve done some photography, but that’s nothing abnormal.
I am currently sitting on the couch with my mom’s laptop in my lap as she takes a nap. I can’t help but chuckle at the boys as they laugh at eachother as they play video games for a little while. I’m talking to a dearest friend of mine back and forth, and asking my father how his day went as he walks in the door. I’m missing my amazing friends back home, and eagerly awaiting a visit which I sincerely hope to be very soon.
By the way, you might want to see this. It answers a very thought provoking question.
“Hey Kat, are you guys doing anything Monday morning before you leave? I was thinking we should all have breakfast together.”
What a great idea Aaron!
Leaving the hotel at 6:30am with Victoria who had stayed the night, we arrived at the McCurdys bright and early. While Victoria stayed outside for a few minutes to talk to Julia, I entered the house to find a bunch of kids still in pjs and teenage girls rubbing the sleep from their eyes as they prepared the kitchen for the huge feast we had to prepare for the 3 families who were coming to Aaron and my farewell breakfast. We were leaving for Jax in just a few hours and Aaron left for college 2 days later.
The recognition that this was to be the last time I would see my friends for more than a month, and Aaron for more than 3 months, was present as I entered the kitchen and gave the normal greeting hug to Katy. I smiled at Jessica as she smiled and said good morning and chuckled as I heard Katy exclaim “Kait! You weren’t supposed to bring anything!”
I glanced down at the bacon I held in my hands.
“Sorry it couldn’t be thrown away and it wouldve been a pain to move!” I said with a smile as she continued to scold me. Little did we know how much laughter would erupt because of that bacon.
Aaron and Danny strolled into the room.
“Hey Kat, how ya doing?” Aaron asked as he walked into the kitchen.
“Doing good!” I replied as I watched Danny go straight to the counters to see if anything had been cooked yet and needed his expert taste testing. Dismayed to find that the girls were still trying to find all the ingredients and utensils needed for the ginormous breakfast that had to be prepared, he turned to me and said “Hey Kait. What’s up?”
Victoria finally made her entrance with Julia, and within 5 minutes, the rest of the Whites walked in the door.
Andrew ran off to find my brothers who were having a great time destroying Danny and Aaron’s room while Spencer talked to Danny in the living room.
After a while, we had lots if pancakes made and eggs were on the way, so it was time to make the bacon. Aaron’s job. Which turned into Aaron’s and my job. Which turned into Aaron’s, Victoria’s, and my job.
I suppose I should start when it was simply Aaron’s job, which didn’t last very long, which is a good thing for the consumers of the bacon.
“Aaron, what are you doing? You can’t microwave bacon!” I said as I teasingly shook my head back and forth in disapproval.
“That’s why I’m getting out the pan!”
“Okay good. Just making sure you aren’t ruining our food.”
“Aww come on, you can trust me with your food, right! You trust me!” Aaron said as he put on this goofy grin.
I replied with a blank stare. “Yeaaaaah. I’m just gonna stand right here.” I said, leaning against the counter next the stove.
“Fine.” he said as he turned back to the bacon that was now in the pan, faking a frown.
I glanced over to see Jessica and Katy attempting to make eggs on the skillet.
“So is bacon good crispy or bendy? Look at this bacon from the microwave! Katy told me to cook it that way; bacon isn’t supposed to do this!” he said as he held out a piece of bacon and it flopped over. “It should stay out straight! Right?”
“Yes!! Floppy bacon is no good!” I said, pretending it was a very serious matter.
“Yes! Thank you!” Aaron said with satisfaction.
Many things occured in the process of cooking the bacon, but since I know that no one wants to spend the next hour reading every detail about the day, I shall skip the casual conversation and get right to the action.
“Umm Aaron…are you wearing oven mitts while cooking bacon?” I asked as I returned from talking to Katy on the opposite side of the kitchen.
“Well the bacon’s oil is trying to kill me! I must protect myself!”
“Have you ever tried turning down the heat?” I asked as I reached over the boiling oil vat which contained a small slice of bacon in it to turn the heat down. “Or have you ever heard of being tough? Seriously!” I said as I laughed at his rediculous protection gear.
Aaron gave me the look, and went back to cooking the bacon. I’m not quite sure how Victoria came into this, but I think that she thought that Aaron was going too slow so she, to speed things up, decided to microwave bacon also. So in the end we had three people working on the bacon: Victoria with the microwave, Aaron with the pan, and I with my scrutinizingness, making sure that Aaron didn’t burn the house down.
After about an hour, or more(I can’t remember exactly), breakfast was finally ready and we had a nice selection of food- Grits, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and banana bread. My parents arrived from doing some last minute work as we got all the kiddos served.
Eventually us teenagers got our food and settled down in the family room for a nice, quiet, and relaxful meal. YEAH RIGHT! We were all laughing our heads off the entire time, barely eating at all! I only ended up getting buried in pillows, which Aaron, Danny, and Spencer shoved onto me, despite my protesting. I laughed as the pressure of three guys shoving pillows on me stopped and I noticed I had this tiny little hole in the middle to peek through. Haha!
After eating, we all got together for the girls favorite thing and the guys least favorite thing; pictures.
Thanks to Katy’s great idea, we did a pyramid also!
Danny and Aaron had to leave right before we did to do lawns, so after an awkward moment of not really knowing how exactly to say goodbye, Aaron suddenly yanked Katy over and put her between me and him…a Christian homeschooler hug.
It was quite surprising, but brilliant, I must say! Of course I had to “homeschool” hug the other guys-
After the homeschool hugs, us girls all said our farewells, too.
Of course, with Victoria we had to do the dramatics.
And then with Katy…
And Jessica.
That last morning was so much fun. Aaron; thanks for the idea! Thank you McCurdys for being so generous and offering your house! Thank you Whites for…being cool! Love y’all!
