Someone once told me I was delusional. I almost fell off of my unicorn.

there’s this girl I know who is awesome and this post is about her

This is Katy.

Katy

She is awesome. And here are a few reasons why.

For one, she’s always tossing free books my way.

awesomekaty1

Course there was that one time she tossed me the books and one hit me in the head and I was rushed to the hospital.

awesomekaty2

I had got concussion and couldn’t do anything fun for at least 3 years. Doctors orders.

Another thing I love about Katy and is very awesome is that she is very forgiving.

awesomekaty3

Katy also is awesome because she always has extra hair ties for you to borrow.

Katy also is awesome because she always knows what’s best for me.

But the thing I like about Katy the most and what really makes her and awesome friend is that she’s always there for me, in highs and lows, and I can always count on her to encourage me, chat with me, laugh with me, and knock sense into me, when needed. ;)

I was tall and then short and then it happened again

Before we moved to Milton I thought I was short. Both of my two friends in Colfax were taller than me. Then I moved here and I met Lizzy and Katy.

mom3

The realization that I was not the shortest girl on the planet was a defining moment in my life. It wasn’t until around 9 months after we moved to Milton that I met the people I was taller than though, which is good because I wasn’t taller than them when we first moved there and if I had met them at the beginning I might have thought that Florida had some strange growth accelerator for young girls from the rural area of Washington state who had low self confidence concerning their height.

Everything was going great. I had one friend who was way taller than me, but that was okay ’cause she was way taller than everybody, and three girls who were shorter than me. I even had a guy friend who was my age and was shorter than me. All was going excellently…until Danny and Spencer went through growth spurts. I say, it was in the one week between our co-op classes that both of them went through growth spurts that sent them towering over me.

tallness1

In one week my height-confidence when down to an all time low. I had to stand on tip toe to reach their elbows. It was devastating. I didn’t know what to do. I considered investing in a good pair of stilts, but I thought that my peers might laugh at me for taking such desperate measures. So I resolved to just get used to it and moved on with my life. I was now short. Well, actually I was kinda nowhere. My guy friends and Tori were tall and Katy and Lizzy and Josh were short. I was just a blob of a person who was neither tall nor short. It was horrifying and it took every amount of my perseverence to make it through this trying and unknowing time in my life. It brought up questions that ran through my head 24/7. Who am I? Why am I here? Am I tall or short?

Then one day, it happened.

tallness2

I realized I was WAY taller than any of my brothers and any child under the age of 4. I was tall! I thought. I wasn’t really sure. But being able to reach a shelf and save an innocent child from being forced into a dreadful situation of having to make J sandwiches because they were too short to reach the PB was really a confidence booster.

Life was back to normal. I was happy and carefree and stuff.

That summer we started volleyball. What a sport! Before you strengthen the God-given springs that are hidden somewhere in your legs you must attempt to jump as high as you can and fail miserably because you don’t really know how to. Spencer and Danny just had to stand at the front of the net and put their hands up to block the ball, but for us shorter ones we had to jump. WAIT. I’m short now? I was beginning to get dizzy from all of the contradicting information coming at me, some saying I’m tall and the other that I am excessively short. I was tall, I knew it! Mom said I was. So I must be! But everyone who was taller than me called me short. Everyone who was shorter than me called me tall. Does that make them average? What is average? Is there such a thing? Should I be that instead of tall? Or really is short the way to go? Volleyball wasn’t helping me decipher what all this meant.

tallness3

It was a mess.  How would I ever get a job? How could I teach my children? I mean, come on. If I couldn’t even tell my kids if I was tall or short, how was I supposed to tell them how to find the square root of 33? Life was becoming a dark hole that had pokey walls so I couldn’t climb out of it. How would this effect my future.

It wasn’t until the day I made a decision about it that the pokey things on the wall turned into steps that I could walk up.

tallness4

And life was good once more.

I think I might have fallen off the planet when I wasn’t looking but then I came back

Okay. I’ll admit it.

I’m a procrasinator.

I’ve been thinking to myself for the last like 4 days weeks that I really need to post on this blog. It is kinda difficult to find time, though, between blogging on my review blog, reading, blogging on Katy’s and my book blog, finishing up school, and keeping the house running smoothly. And eating chocolate.

Then Dad left for SERE school.

And then I went to Disney with the neighbors.

And then I made funny faces at the camera.

Then I dragged Lucy into it all.

And then I blogged.

pic

And now I’m here. Blogging. On Kaitlynology.

*sigh*

We’re going to Milton next week for nearly 2 weeks for my graduation. Hurrah! I’m so excited. It’s going to be the best two weeks ever.

happyme

So that’s all for now. I’m working up something funny for sometime later this week. Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I don’t know. But it will be awesome.

By the way, that whole Surprise Birthday part1 was supposed to have a part 2. My aunts and parents through me a party and I got to see my awesome family and friends, the Warmans. It was a blast. Totally awesome. Pics will come someday.

Finding A House Has Always Been Fun

So, we’ve moved. A lot. I’ve lived in North Carolina, then South Carolina, then Washington, then South Carolina, then Rhode Island, then Washington, then west Florida, and then east Florida. I can’t say any of the moves have been exactly enjoyable(except the one away from RH – we did NOT like it there at all), but moving into a new house has always been fun.  I’ve lived in approx. 11 different houses. My favorite one was the house in Rhode Island, surprisingly, which was two stories and very pretty. The one in Washington was really big, also two stories, and not very pretty. But it was very roomy, and the downstairs was where all us kids slept. There were a few rooms down there, so we had my room, the boys room, and then a rec room. It was like our own club. We called it “The Cave”. hehe.

Out of the two houses we lived in in west Florida, I prefered the second. I liked it’s layout and it was in a quiet neighborhood RIGHT next to where my dad worked. I really liked that house, too. It was probably my second favorite. And then this house. It’s really pretty on the inside. The only thing I really like about it though is the backyard. It’s REALLY pretty and huge. It’s like I have my own forest in the backyard. It’s awesome!

Searching for a house is the highlight of moving.  Places like Capitola make it easier to find houses. We always spend tons of time searching online for a house, looking for the perfect one in our price range. I always enjoy searching around on Pensacola Craigslist – but then I usually get caught up in looking at their free section. lol. That’s how we found the second house we lived in in west Florida, while here in east Florida we used Red Door. All of them were helpful for where ever you happen to live. So if you’re looking for a house, check out one of the links!

Travel the World One Home at a Time

Guest post from: Fidel Short

One of my favorite home shows is House Hunters International. I love how each episode spotlights a different family in a different foreign city. The show provides a way for me to travel the world and see how people in other countries live. I also like how there is no regular host. In recent episodes, the spotlighted family and their local real estate agent speak out loud with the camera. Last week I saw an episode where a couple was shopping for a condo apartment in Paris, France. It is fascinating to see how much homes cost in other countries. The home prices were expressed in Euros but for American viewers they add screen text converting the price into American dollars. This makes it easier for me to judge the value of each home according to location and amenities. In each episode, the family visits three homes and then makes an offer on one of them. It’s fun to sit on my couch and watch the show on satellite tv that I got after reading over this DIRECTV HD Deals comparison and try to guess which home the family will choose. I also enjoy the end of each episode when we get to visit the family after they have moved into their new home. It’s interesting to see how the family chooses to decorate the rooms and if they still believe they made the correct choice.

Surprise, Birthday, Surprise some more part 1

Let me start out by saying that this was the best birthday ever. EVER. I considered it the best birthday ever from the moment I walked through the McCurdy’s front door and was bombarded by 9 voices shouting “Surprise!”.
I laughed as a laid eyes upon Victoria, Danny, Jessica, Becky, Josh, Julia, Anna Marie, Spencer, and Katy(who stood beside me). (Lizzy arrived a little later)

All that followed was pure fun. Awesomeness in the raw. We played volleyball.

We played cards.

SANY2543edit

We ate pizza and cake(no pics. :( )

We played some more.

We took pictures.

Then we did a bunch of other insane, goofy, wacky, crazy, looney, ridiculous, and bizarre stuff that I will not be mentioning.

But it was fun. I had a blast. I can’t thank my family and friends enough! I couldn’t have had a better party, unless of course it lasted forever. :-)

All One Needs Is An Awesome Friend, An Awesome Hat, and An Awesome Book

1.    An awesome friend is always nice to have. Such a friend for me would be someone like Savanah, who is undoubtedly one of the coolest, weirdest, and awesomest people on the planet. Yeah. She’s really awesome. I really like her. Like a lot.

2.     A hat is good for when it’s cold outside. Or for just wearing around the      house. They are especially great when the Awesome Friend from earlier in the post makes it for you. Thanks Nonners!
kaithatcolage

3.      And the last thing you need is a good book. Like the one below. Especially if it’s the third book in your all time favorite series and the author agreed to send you a copy in return for a review.  And then you received it in the mail today. Along with the awesome hat.

And that’s all one needs.

The “S” word, according to my brothers

“You know, Dr. Ssssss”

He just carried on the S, like he expected me to guess what the heck he was saying.

“Umm.” was my confused reply.

“You know, the ‘S’ word that we aren’t allowed to say.” Joe continued.

(insert me rolling my eyes)

“You mean ‘Stupid’?” I asked.

“Yes.” Joe gave me a look that said I totally should’ve known that.

My brother’s have this idea that they aren’t allowed to say Stupid because it’s a curse word or something. What they don’t seem to realize is that Mom told them when they were younger that they couldn’t say it because she knew that they would abuse it.

“Boys, seriously, you guys can say that word. You just aren’t allowed to call people it.” I explained.

I should’ve just left things alone.

Apparently this was like the best gift that could ever be given to them. They say a few sentences mentioning something ‘stupid’(all of it from the Ren & Stempy show we watched yesterday.). There was a lot of giggling. Being that they were in the middle of lunch and I was tired of the hearing their banter, I told them(jokingly) to stop saying stupid or I would make sure that they weren’t allowed to say it at all.

*silence*

Joe looks at me, trying really hard not to grin. “That’s stupid Kait.”

*little giggling at the table as they look at my expression to make sure I’m not about to pound Joe*

(this is where I try really hard not to smile and appear stern)

(this is where I look at Gabe’s face, who’s trying to do the same thing)

(this is where I start laughing against my will)

(this is where the entire table dissolves into giggles)

My brothers are weird.
