Cold with a capital C

You will never believe how cold it is outside. It is only 12 degrees, yeah, I’m serious. I’ve been in colder, but never here in Colfax. I have officially decided that I DON’T like cold weather. I’d much rather be back South were I belong. Summer is definitely my season. And to think, in Florida, were we are to move in a few months, it’s summer all the time! The snow may be beautiful, but I’d give it up for some nice hot weather, especially since swimming is my sport.

Oh, I’d thought I’d post something for all you people who have trampolines. Is it ever so hot that all you want to do is get wet? But at the same time you want to jump on the trampoline but your sure you’d have a heat stroke? Well, me and my friend Megan have come up with a brilliant idea so you can jump, flip, and have fun on the trampoline at the same time as your getting wet! All you have to do is put a sprinkler underneath the trampoline, and turn it on! Make sure if you have it on a hard water setting, you move the sprinkler every once and a while to prevent holes. It worked great for us!

Kaitlynology

Just thought I’d let everyone know that Kaitlynology.blogspot.com is now Kaitlynology.com
Just thought I’d let you know! You can still get to it my typing in blogspot.com, but I find it easier to just type in .com Oh, and if you want me to put a link to your Blog in my “Blogs I read” section, then just leave a comment with your Blog address. Thanks! Sorry, I forgot to put the Psalms of the Day on yesterday. Sorry! Please understand if I miss a couple Sundays. Sometimes we are very busy. Thank you. Here’s Psalms 2.

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. “Let us break their chains,” they say, “and throw off their fetters.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Glossary

conspire- to plot (something wrong, evil, or illegal).

fetters- a chain or shackle for the ankles or feet.

inheritance- hereditary succession to a title or an office or property

scepter- I could not find the definition in a easy to explain sentence, it seems like it is a kind of symbol of power, like a flag or something

pottery- ware, such as vases, pots, bowls, or plates, shaped from moist clay and hardened by heat

Psalms

I am going to try to do a Psalms of the day. Hopefully I’ll remember.
Today’s Psalm is….Psalms 1

BLESSED is the man who walks not in the council of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seats of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers water; that brings forth it’s fruit in it’s season, who’s leaf should also not wither; and what ever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so, but they are like the chaff the wind drives away. There for the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement, nor the sinners in the congregation of righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Hope you liked it!

My Favorite Bible Verse

I think I found my favorite Bible Verses. See Glossary at bottom of page.
Isaiah 53: 3-9, 12

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom man hide their faces, he despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned his own way; and the Lord has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to slaughter, as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
By oppression and judgement He was taken away. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth…..
For He bore the sin of many, and made intersession for the transgressors.

Glossary: iniquities-gross injustice or wickedness, sin

esteem-to regard with respect; prize.

infirmities-a moral weakness or failing.

smitten-struck, as with a hard blow

afflicted-completely unfit

transgressions- disobeying a law, command, or duty

oppression-the use of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner

stricken-hit or wounded by a weapon

deceit-lies

intercessions-pleading on behalf of another person.

Mom’s Spaghetti

My mom makes this really good spaghetti, here’s the recipe!

Mom’s Spaghetti

Prep: About 20 min. Total: About 25 min.

1. Start by boiling water in a big pot.

2. While your waiting for your water to boil, brown about 2 pounds of ground beef, or 1 pound of ground beef and about 20 meatballs.

3. Your water should be boiling by now. Put a full hand full of your favorite kind of spaghetti in the pot for about 10 min. We use Angel Hair spaghetti.

4. While your noodles are boiling, add either 2 cans of un-drained diced tomato or 3 chopped fresh tomatoes, 2 cans of 8 oz. tomato paste, and at least 1 16. oz can of tomato sauce or more, depending on how saucy you like your spaghetti. Add about 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, and 1 tablespoon of Italian Seasoning.

5. Your spaghetti should be done now. Drain. Put in a separate bowl from the sauce. Add about 2 tablespoons of butter. Add sauce if wanted. We keep them separate.

6. Sit down and enjoy your Spaghetti!

Food & Cooking

Since I had to take the Idiom book back to the library, I have decided to do a once-every-three-day favorite recipe. I am going to start with the dinner we had last night, Shepherds Pie.

What you need: (we doubled the recipe for our family of 8)

1 can diced tomatoes

1 cup gravy

1/2 cup of V8

1. Preheat oven to 375. Brown your meat in a large skillet. Drain.

2. Mix mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese and the garlic until well blended.

3. Stir gravy and veggies and if wanted, V8 into the meat.

4. Spoon meat mixture into a 9 in. square baking dish

5. Cover with the potato mixture.

6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese and bake for 20 min. Enjoy!
