Someone once told me I was delusional. I almost fell off of my unicorn.

Changes, Changes, Changes!

I’m messing around with my template right now, so for a little while it might look a little strange. Just wanted to give you the heads up!

Volley Ball – Part…Oh Forget IT!!

Well, it turns out that we’re playing volley ball through the summer. Whoopie!
Today we played earlier then usual, 12-2 instead of 2-4. It was fun, and VERY hot. We had 10 people, so we divided up evenly, me being on a team with Alex, Christina, Victoria, Josh, and me, of course, and the other team was Katie, Lizzy, Kevin, Bethany, and Spencer. Pretty good teams, if you ask me. Kevin and Josh were team captains. After we got put in our positions, we served. I can’t remember the exact score, or how exactly the game went, but I know that we won the game, switch sides, lost the next one, switched sides, and won the last one. After that we had a water/icecream break. The icecream was too sweet for me, so I only had a couple of bites. We went back outside after about 10 minutes, switched teams around, and did a single game to 25. Now it was Lizzy, Katie, Bethany, Josh, and I against Spencer, Victoria, Alex, Kevin, and Christina. We were on the side ‘bad’ side, the one that whoever was over there lost. With a rough beginning, it looked like that side was going to hold it’s ground with its ‘you can’t win’ streak. Half way through the game it was a sad score of 7-18, us losing. Coach called a time out and gave us some pointers, which apparently worked. We did 4 serves in a row, which got us up to 10-18. They served, it either went out of bounds or we hit it back, I can’t remember. But anyhow, we got the ball. 9 more great serves, done by the fantabulous Katie, got us to 21-18. They’re ball. They get to 22 and miss. Our ball! My serve. Now, just to let you know, I’m not a great server, and usually miss. I hit it…over the net! They hit it back and Katie and Joshua dive for it. One of them actually hit it over the net, but I don’t know which one, but it doesn’t matter because the other team didn’t hit it back over. I served again…over! Again, over! Last time. If I get this ball over and they don’t hit it back, we win! I close my eyes, and concentrate. I open my eyes, take a step forward, hit the ball…it goes over the net! After several attempts to get it back to us, the other team dropped the ball. We win!

It was fun, I enjoyed playing. In 2 weeks we’ll meet back up again, I can’t wait!

Random Happenings…

Well, I haven’t posted in a while, sorry. But, hopefully I’ll be able to post more often now. We’ve been pretty busy. First, I’ll tell you about the Southern Ball I went to!

I had heard about the Civil War/Southern Ball about 2 1/2 weeks before the event, and from the moment I read the email my friend Katie sent me, I knew it was a must go event. I was unable to attend the practice, where they teach the dances, but luckily I had a couple good friends who willingly taught them to me. I spent the next 4 days getting ready for the ball. Figuring out what I would wear, teachiong my brothers, Gabe(8) and Matthew(5), the 2 dances I remembered, and tried to pursuade my father to take us. After was seemed like years, Friday came, the day before the ball, and I was told that we would be going! I finaly could uncross my aching fingures and relax, or so I thought. My father insisted that if we went to this ball, that the house would be spotless, and so it became. We cleaned and swept and wiped for hours on Saturday, and in between cleaning the house we had to cut all of the boy’s hair, do my hair, my mom’s hair, get the boys clothes sorted out, and get dressed, and during this time my dad was golfing with the men from our church. At about 4:00, we stared getting everyone dressed. By 4:30 everyone except for my mother was ready to go(she was smart and waited until last minute to put on her black & white dress). We were planning to leave at 4:35, so that we could be there by 5:30 when it started. Dad didn’t get home until 4:50. By 4:53 we were all in the car and pulling out. I was so excited I could barely sit still! We were almost there when we got stuck in traffic over a bridge. That was fun. When we first pulled up, we saw no cars. I got nervous, I was in charge of printing out the directions. We pulled around the back, and I knew we were at the right place. If it wasn’t the Civil War dressed men, it was the all to familar green van that we parked behind, my friends Elizabeth and Joshua’s van. When we got inside, I joined my little circle group of friends – Katie, Lizzy, Danny, and Joshua, along with Katie’s younger sisters. The then explained to me how it worked. I don’t know if any body noticed, but I was shaking because I ws nervous, which is not normal for me, but after the first dance, which I did with my father, I was comfortable. My father and I did the American Sashay, and if you’ve ever done that dance, you’ll know it is confusing. The people that we danced with(you do this dance in a group of 4) didn’t really know what they were doing either, but we figured out the pattern right before the dance ended. The next dance was the Sweetheart Prominade, during which I watched the kids so my parents could dance. After that there was the Patty-Cake Polka, which I did with Matthew(5), but you change partners, so I only started with him. After that was the Carolina Prominade, which I did with my brother, Gabe(8), that one you also switch partners. Then I was asked to do the American Sashay by a good friend of mine, Joshua, which was a complete waste of a dance. We had no idea what we were doing, but oh well, I still enjoyed dancing with ‘em. After that another friend, Spencer, asked me to dance the Spansh Waltz with him. That was fun. Then we did the Virginia Reel, I did that with Gabe again. By that time it was about 8:30, so my parents and family left, leaving me there. I was going home with some friends of ours. I didn’t get asked to dance again, but still had fun half-dancing with my girl friends. It was a blast!
I really enjoyed myself.

Co-op is almost over. Sob, sob. Luckily, we will still do volley ball through the summer, so I’ll still be able to hang out with some of my friends.

Well, that’s about it for now! Bye!

The Pit

A man fell into a pit and couldn’t get himself out.

A subjective person came along and said, “I fell for you down there.”
A objective person walked by and said, “It’s logical a person would fall down there”
A Pharisee said, “Only bad people fall into pits.”
A mathematician calculated how he fell into the pit.
A news reporter wanted a exclusive story on the pit.
An IRS agent asked if he was paying taxes on the pit.
A self-pitying person said, “You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen my pit!”
A fire-and-brimstone preacher said, “You deserve your pit.”
A Christian Scientist observed, “The pit is just in your mind.”
A phychologist said, “It’s your parents fault your in that pit.”
A self-esteem therapist said, “If you believe in yourself you can get out of that pit.”
An optimist said, “Things could be worse”
A pessimist said, “Things will get worse.”
Jesus, seeing the man, took his hand and lifted him out of the pit.

Volley Ball – Part 5 ~ Hurrah!

Waiting…

Ready Position

Not So Ready Position – This Is My Position

Play Ball! Oh Wait…
Wrong Sport
Yipee! Back to Volley Ball we go! I was very upset that we haven’t been to P.E. in a week(spring break), and even more worried that we weren’t going to play Volley Ball because of the rumor that we were going to play soft ball instead that was going around. But, fortunately, it was changed. Now we will play Volley Ball until the end of this part(next week), and then when we start up again in September(I think) we’ll play either softball(elick) or kick ball(yipee).

Anyway, volley ball has been fun. When I had some of my closest friends over for a mini-party at my house a couple of weeks ago, I actually got the hang of it. As long as I’m paying attention, I can usually hit the ball…in the right direction.
This week we learned how to spike a ball. I CANNOT do it. I’m okay at it when there’s a net in front of me, but when I’m trying to practice in my backyard, I can’t hit at all. It’s terrible. Oh well.

Well, I’m soaking up the fun like a dry sponge. I enjoy it so much! I can’t wait ’till next week to join up with my friends and play a last game!
