My mom just scheduled my dentist appointment. It’s for the 12th. Then they’ll refer me to an orthadontist. Mom’ll schedule an appointment with the orthadontist probably that day. Then I’ll go the the orthadontist. He’ll/she’ll tell me I need braces, and discuss with my parents the options I have. They’ll agree on one. Then they’ll make another appointment. The appointment. I’ll go in as a ball of nerves, and come out as metal-mouth. At least that’s what family will call me for a while, and I’m sure most of my friends will be merciless, too, with the exception of Katie and Danny, cause they’ll be right with me, having Katie gotten hers a couple weeks ago and Danny getting his tomorrow. Wait…they’ll probably be merciless, too. =)
I’m pretty sure I’ll get used to it. I have another couple weeks to enjoy the leisure of popcorn, sugary chewy candies, and all that other stuff I can’t have once I have braces on. I’ve already decided I’m going to have popcorn for dinner and desert the night before my … braces-putting-on-thingie. =)
So, I go on to brave the future…whatever that means.

Your friends call you brace face? NO WAY…. I have three siblings with braces right now, one just got them off yesterday, and I used to have a retainer. Know what it is like….

I have an appointment with the orthodontist on Thursday, so I should be “Brace Face” in a couple weeks!

I can sympathize with you somewhat, seeing that just within the past month, two of my siblings now have braces (albeit their reactions/adjustments/complaints are very different from each other). I will tell you the same thing I told Katie: braces won’t change you. They may change the way you look, but they can never change you. Even if you had to wear them for the rest of your life, your friends (myself included) would still know and love you for being you: Kait, the Kid, Jane, and whatever other names you have. You will always be you, and not even braces can change that. Enjoy your popcorn!
